The Issue

Enough is enough. Over ten years ago, residents were told to sell their homes and properties along Moon Lake Road in anticipation of a crucial road widening project. With promises of improved traffic flow and increased safety, this sacrifice seemed worthwhile. Yet, a decade later, families are still waiting, and their patience is running thin.

Inexplicably, during this time, our community has seen an influx of new apartment buildings. The construction of the Ridge Road Extension has further amplified the traffic congestion on Moon Lake Road. What was once a feasible road for daily commuting has now become a source of daily frustration.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the population of Pasco County grew by over 20% in the last decade. This surge in residents has only exacerbated the issue, making it more urgent than ever to address the infrastructure shortfalls that plague our area.

It's clear that the increase in traffic is not aligned with the existing infrastructure. The county's promise to widen Moon Lake Road remains unfulfilled, despite the ongoing development projects continued in the region.

This petition calls upon local authorities in New Port Richey, FL, to immediately halt any new developments on Moon Lake Road until the promised widening is completed. It is unfair to further burden a road that has already exceeded its capacity without providing the upgrades initially promised years ago.

We urge decision-makers to prioritize the safety and well-being of their constituents by addressing this critical issue. Residents and commuters deserve the infrastructure improvements that were assured to them over a decade ago. Sign this petition today to demand a halt on new developments until Moon Lake Road is properly widened and safe for all its users. Let us hold our community leaders accountable and ensure that promises made are promises kept.
