The Issue

When we moved to our peaceful neighborhood in Hernando County, we cherished its safety, tranquility, and the close-knit feeling that it nurtured. However, with the development of new apartments in our vicinity, a wave of concern has washed over our community. The proposed new apartments could have a direct view into our backyards and neighborhood streets, threatening to shatter the peace and safety we've held dear.

The influx of residents brings with it a genuine risk of increased crime, littering, speeding, and other undesired activities. Our family-oriented neighborhood values safety and preservation, and it’s important for us to protect it from potential deterioration.

Hernando County officials have the ability and responsibility to guarantee our neighborhood be safe and protected by completely putting a stop to this master plan. At the very least by rerouting the traffic flow away from our community streets, the county can effectively mitigate the potential for crime, disruption, and deterioration of the neighborhood environment that the new apartment community threatens.

We propose the county stop these apartments or at the very least, alternative routing options, such as directing traffic along access roads or main thoroughfares that have the infrastructure to handle higher volumes without impacting residential life. This mitigation approach looks to preserve the integrity and character of our neighborhood while still allowing for new housing development in a manner that's harmonious with existing communities. We ask that an entrance or exit to these apartments never be accessed through our small community. Our small neighborhood, especially those on wood owl will already be affected enough.

Our request is both practical and achievable. Let's urge Hernando County officials to make a sensible decision for the safety and welfare of all those living in this community. By signing this petition, you join us in safeguarding our neighborhood from an unwanted change that we can prevent together. Your signature can make a difference. Please, lend your support and sign today.
