Are there any other ways FCDS can fail dogs that come into their facility? Yep. How can this be? Murphy was in such a deteriorated condition, the medical staff could not accurately determine his age....ears, eyes , skin all in horrible shape, so underweight he couldn't be neutered (yet NOW they will neuter him) and give him back to the "OWNERS". This goes against all a dog shelter and the law should stand for. W T F 117577 - Murphy - Needs Pulled By 4/30 Breed: Boxer Sex: Male Date of Birth (estimated): 04/2011 needs pulled by 4/30 "Murphy" 7 year old intact male boxer/pit bull mix. 40lbs. He is rescue only due to medical. Our vets wrote: "Approximately 7 year old male intact large mixed breed. Given severity of deteriorated condition upon presentation, difficult to confidently make an age estimate. Food motivated, tolerant of all handling despite obvious discomfort.MM pink, CRT < 2 sec, BCS 3.5/9; EENT: Teeth - mild to moderate dental staining with moderate wear mandibular incisors, underbite, Ears - moderate brown ceruminous debris with moderate crusting of external pinnae bilaterally, canals mildly inflamed, TM intact, Eyes - moderate mucoid ocular debris OU, mild lateral lower eyelid entropion OU, OD - suspect uveal cyst ventral anterior chamber, menace/palpebral/plr wnl, fluoroscein stain negative OU, nose - wnl; CV: Grade 1 left basilar systolic heart murmur, given amount of referred noise would recommend reausculting to confirm prior to anesthetic event, possible functional associated with stress of environment or pathologic (anemia vs open ddx), femoral pulses strong/synchronous; Resp: moderate referred upper airway noise suspect secondary to mildly brachycephalic nature, normal bronchovesicular sounds all quadrants; Integument: moderate to severe focal alopecia over lumbosacral to lumbothoracic region, numerous nodules noted suspect reactive tissue, ulcerated suspect skin tag right caudal thigh near hip point, ventral abdomen lichenified, mild 'yeasty' odor, diffusely dirty/unthrifty haircoat; Abdomen: thin, mild 'gassy' palpation, no obvious abnormalities, comfortable; Ortho: mild to moderate stifle thickening bilaterally, no crepitus with rom, mild resentment to hip extension bilaterally (behavior vs pathology), comfortable jumping up to counter for wet food, mild to moderate cachexia observed diffusely, gait appears comfortable; Neuro: mildly paretic, slipping on floor when focused on food, CPs wnl, suspect weakness associated with low body condition score and poor husbandry, cutaneous trunci/anal-nasal sensation wnl, no spinal pain on palpation; Urogenital: two testicles. Given significance of multiple infections (ocular, skin, aural), combined with low body condition score (needs to gain weight prior to surgery), as well as bilateral entropion and orthopedic changes, Murphy is best suited for a foster based rescue for continued care and treatment prior to neuter and adoptive placement. Adding reminder for comfort recheck and blood draw tomorrow." His stray hold is up 4/29, and he needs pulled by 4/30. Dog to dog: Very much an intact male, approached fast and sniffing, allowing hd to sniff, pushy and parallel walked with hd, no aggression seen, pushy intact male
