The Issue

Since Anderson River Park in Anderson, California, was established by the city in 1956, the 480-acre park along the beautiful Sacramento River has been the shining star of our community. This regional park, offering both low/passive and high impact recreational uses, is the envy of many counties and cities throughout the region.

The natural environment of Anderson River Park is a sanctuary for both residents and wildlife. Its serene landscapes, filled with lush greenery and tranquil river views, provide a vital space for relaxation, leisure, and community gatherings. However, there is a current proposal to construct a motorcycle training and racing track within or adjacent to the nature area of the park. This development would not only disrupt the peaceful ambiance that so many cherish but also potentially harm local wildlife and degrade the natural beauty that makes our park unique.

We must preserve the integrity of Anderson River Park for current and future generations. Introducing a motorcycle track would lead to increased noise and pollution, which are not in alignment with the values and purpose of this cherished open space. Studies show that such developments can lead to negative environmental impacts, including habitat fragmentation and loss of biodiversity.

There are alternative locations more suitable for high-impact activities such as motorcycle racing, which do not compromise cherished natural spaces. We urge the Anderson City Council to protect Anderson River Park by rejecting any plans for a motorcycle facility within or near the park.

Please help us maintain the beauty and tranquility of Anderson River Park by signing this petition. Let's stand together to ensure our park remains a sanctuary for all to enjoy.
