Stop Moratorium of Mining

Stop Moratorium of Mining
The Issue
As concerned students of LSVMS, we want to share our thoughts about stopping the ban on mining. We know that mining is important because it helps people get jobs and provides materials for things we use every day. But we also care a lot about nature, the air we breathe, and the water we drink.
We believe that mining should be done in a way that does not harm nature or people. That’s why we ask for stricter rules to make sure the environment is taken care of. There should be plans to fix any damage, control pollution, and help communities grow in a healthy way.
Before mining starts, experts should check how it will affect the land, water, and animals. There should also be regular check-ups to make sure companies follow the rules. If they harm nature, they must fix it by planting trees, cleaning up waste, and helping people find other jobs if needed. With these rules, mining can help the economy without destroying the planet.
We love our home and want it to stay clean and beautiful. If mining is done the right way, we can have both jobs and a safe environment. It’s important to take care of the earth because we only have one. We don’t want dirty rivers, sick animals, or people getting hurt just because of mining. If companies follow the rules, then mining can help everyone.
We also believe that people who live near mining areas should be heard. Their safety and health should always come first. Companies should help communities by building schools, hospitals, and safe roads. They should make sure families have clean water to drink and fresh air to breathe.
If mining is done responsibly, it can help both nature and people. We should not have to choose between jobs and a healthy planet—we can have both if we work together.
We appeal to the LGU to take immediate action in formulating a sustainable and protective mining framework that addresses both economic needs and environmental conservation. By fostering a responsible approach to resource extraction, we can promote long-term economic stability while safeguarding the well-being of future generations.
