Students and parents should be heard. 
A growing number of parents and students have issued complaints to administration at Missouri State University, asking for changes to be made to the mandatory meal plans required of all students living on campus.

Not only is the meal plan mandatory, but the quality and safety of the food served to students is inadequate, unsafe, and offers very few options for those with gluten intolerance and celiac disease. Cross-contamination has caused many students to become ill.

The safety of the food served has also proven to be severely undercooked, over cooked, and completely unsatisfactory for the cost of the mandatory meal plan. This is forcing students to purchase their own groceries, or eat off-campus instead of utilizing the services offered on campus.

Meal plans costing upwards of $2000 to students are not being used, due to these reasons, and many more complaints being reported on several Facebook groups, to administration, emails, and from students to their parents.

The money paid into these meal plans could be used towards tuition, groceries, and other safety measures for students. However, because of university policies, any student who lives on campus is forced to pay for unsatisfactory, unsafe, and mishandled meals.

Plus!!! These are no more dining hall carry out options so students can no longer eat after dining halls are closed.

Food safety is a basic human right and should be the highest priority of the administration at Missouri State University.
