MILESTONE TOWERS--a company putting up tall monopole cell towers all over Loudoun County--has its next target in Hamilton at the Hamilton Safety Center near hundreds of homes and several of Hamilton's core small businesses.
MILESTONE TOWERS and the Hamilton Safety Center are using a process in the zoning law that allows "by right" building of cell towers up to 199 feet tall (18 stories). That means they don't need government approval and they are bypassing the opposition from the Hamilton community to build a 150 foot cell tower (14 stories) at the gateway to Hamilton at the Hamilton Safety Center. AND THE HAMILTON SAFETY CENTER IS PLAYING ALONG, betraying the citizens it exists to protect.
NO RESIDENT HAS ASKED FOR THIS. Our cell service is GOOD! And Milestone Towers is already planning to or has already built at least two other towers in the Hamilton area that have or will improve service. BUT THEY AREN'T SATISFIED AND ARE LOOKING TO ADD MORE MONEY TO THEIR POCKET despite opposition from residents.
MILESTONE TOWERS says it "is here to stay" and will build this--AND MORE TOWERS--regardless of our opposition because they can under the zoning law (and without pushback from the Safety Center).
THE TOWER WILL DESTROY THE RURAL, SMALL-TOWN CHARACTER OF HAMILTON, towering over our homes, small businesses, and church steeples. It will be the gateway to Hamilton and the defining character of our community. It will not only be ugly, but it could also have negative health effects for those in its shadow and it will lower surrounding property values significantly. If improved service is needed, there are other ways. But MILESTONE TOWERS DOESN'T CARE. They build towers and THEY WANT TO MAKE MONEY.
And that's not all! MILESTONE TOWERS CAN BUILD TOWERS AT ANY FIRE STATION IN LOUDOUN COUNTY WITHOUT PROCESS OR APPROVAL and regardless of what residents say. (So, watch out if the County tries to put a fire station in your neighborhood or town because next is a tower!)

WITH THIS PETITION WE ARE SPEAKING UP TO STOP MILESTONE TOWERS FROM RUINING THE CHARM OF LOUDOUN COUNTY ONE CELL TOWER AT A TIME!

URGE MILESTONE TOWERS and the HAMILTON SAFETY CENTER to STOP THEIR PLANS TO BUILD THE TOWER at Hamilton Safety Center.
Urge and expedited legislative process to END "BY RIGHT" BUILDING OF CELL TOWERS AND STOP MILESTONE TOWERS FROM RUINING LOUDOUN COUNTY'S CHARM ONE TOWER AT A TIME over the strong objections of the community.

If you live in the Town of Hamilton or operate a business in the Town of Hamilton, please consider joining tonight's Hamilton Planning Commission meeting at 7pm at the Town office or by Zoom. The Planning Commission needs to hear from people in Town that you do not want this tower! The PC is discussing the future character of the town tonight, so this is a good opportunity to share that a 150 foot cell tower will become the defining feature of the Town and does not maintain the historical character of Hamilton.
