Stop Meta's Tonganoxie Data Center Project
The Issue
Tonganoxie, Kansas has been my home since 2011, Tonganoxie is a small, close-knit community of just 5,000 people. We are facing a huge disruption. Meta plans to construct a 1,150-acre AI data center right here in our small town, and it's causing concerns that can't be ignored. As a resident living with sensitive respiratory problems, autoimmune diseases, and partial deafness, I know firsthand how noise and pollution from such a massive project could seriously impact our health and wellbeing.
We're not just talking about hypothetical impacts. The noise, air, and water pollution from the proposed data center could exacerbate health issues for many in our community. It's not just about the aesthetics of our beloved small town, it’s about the real, tangible effects on our daily lives. A project of this magnitude doesn't belong here in Tonganoxie, and we need leaders who will fight to keep Kansas towns like ours intact and unpolluted.
This isn’t only a health issue. It’s aleo about protecting the essence of our town. We need representatives who will advocate for our community over corporate interests. Cindy Holscher, a candidate for Kansas governor, is committed to ensuring that our small towns remain the safe havens we love. She's actively against the establishment of AI data centers here, standing up for our health and environmental integrity.
Beyond that, we face systemic challenges such as limited access to Medicaid, stagnant wages, and lack of medical marijuana legalization. These are issues Cindy is eager to tackle, advocating for expanded healthcare access, increased minimum wage, and legalization of medicinal marijuana. Steps that will immensely benefit Tonganoxie residents.
We must come together to demand that Meta halts their plans for this data center in Tonganoxie. Let’s protect our town, our health, and our future. Please sign this petition to preserve the integrity and wellbeing of our community.
