Stop mega yacht marina at Museum Pointe
The Issue

As a volunteer and board member of the St. Lucie County Historical Society (SLCHS), I am committed to preserving the rich history and culture of our community. Since 2009, alongside fellow volunteers, we've helped shape the Museum Pointe into a beloved educational and recreational landmark. Today, however, this cherished institution faces a tremendous threat.
Plans to build a mega yacht marina at Museum Pointe in Fort Pierce, Florida, are underway, potentially leading to the closure of our history museum. This development would not only rob our community of a significant cultural asset but also disrupt a natural habitat that many deem priceless.
Museum Pointe has long been a nucleus for education and community engagement in St. Lucie County. It offers an glimpse into our past and serves as a learning platform for students of all ages. The integration of history within our community inspires awareness and participation, fostering a sense of identity and stewardship among residents.
Moreover, constructing mega yacht docks would irrevocably alter the landscape of a site cherished for its natural beauty and recreational value. Much like the acclaimed Blue Heron Bridge at Phil Foster Park in Riviera Beach, known globally for its protected, shallow dive site, Museum Pointe is a sanctuary of biodiversity and leisure that deserves safeguarding.
The potential loss of Museum Pointe as a recreational space is compounded by the environmental impact of this proposed marina. Research indicates that developments of this kind can lead to increased pollution, disruption of marine ecosystems, and the destruction of critical habitats for local flora and fauna. The public deserves and demands full transparency of environmental and infrastructure impacts of the mega yacht project.
To preserve Museum Pointe as a historical and natural treasure requires urgent collective action. We call on the local authorities and decision makers to set up a well-publicized community meeting as a platform for the public to voice questions and concerns.
Join me and the St. Lucie County Historical Society in opposing this development. Let us together protect and preserve Museum Pointe for future generations to enjoy.
Please sign this petition and help safeguard our cultural and natural heritage.
