Stop medical gaslighting of women
The Issue
Every day, countless women are having their very real health issues minimized by those they trust to help them.
Medical gaslighting can result in delayed diagnoses, incorrect treatments, and needless suffering. There is also a growing number of women living with complex, often misunderstood conditions and disorders. Many spend years searching for answers while being told their symptoms are anxiety, stress, or "all in their head." This delay in diagnosis can lead to worsening health, permanent disability, financial hardship, and even death.
We urgently call on healthcare institutions, regulators, and medical boards to address these systemic issues and take meaningful action. Medical professionals should receive comprehensive education on gender bias, women's health, and complex chronic conditions. Standardized clinical guidelines should require appropriate investigation of persistent symptoms and timely referrals when necessary.
We also need greater accountability when negligence, repeated dismissal of symptoms, or substandard care causes preventable harm. Patients deserve transparent review processes and a healthcare system that seeks to improve patient safety.
Finally, we urgently need more investment in women's health research. Conditions that disproportionately affect women deserve the same urgency, funding, and scientific attention as other health issues.
Please sign this petition to demand change. Together, we can demand a system where women are taken seriously, diagnosed earlier, and given the evidence-based care they deserve.
