Stop Massachusetts’ New Late-Abortion Rule — Repeal Chapter 188

The Issue

I am pro-life. I do not think abortion after 24 weeks is acceptable, and I did not think Massachusetts’ old exceptions were good enough either.

Chapter 188, signed August 10, 2026 and effective November 8, makes it worse. It deletes the listed limits that used to apply after 24 weeks — life of the mother, physical or mental health, lethal anomaly, or a grave diagnosis incompatible with life outside the womb — and replaces them with one line: a physician may perform the abortion based on professional judgment. A review process cannot override that.

That is not a small cleanup. At 24 weeks a baby can often survive outside the womb. The new law removes a clear statutory line.

This petition asks the Legislature to repeal Chapter 188 and restore the prior written standard. That is not my last word on abortion. It is the immediate vote in front of Massachusetts lawmakers before November 8.
