STOP MAKING IT A CRIME FOR HOMELESS TO SLEEP IN CARS.

The Issue

Right now in California, it is illegal to sleep in your car, since there are so many that are losing their homes, it would be natural for them to choose an alternative lifestyle as a means to survive. They are not criminals, nor are they looking for trouble, a lot of them are tax paying citizens who deserve the right to sleep out of the cold. Please join me in signing this petition so that every Californian-home or no home-can get a good night's rest.

Cathy MendoncaPetition StarterI have been involved in San Diego's activism circuit for almost three years. My background includes advocating, educating and direct action organizing on issues of domestic violence, food justice, homelessness, LGBT and union rights. I also have an extensive direct service paid and volunteer background which includes being an ESL Tutor and Mentor to refugees resettled to the United States, Community Outreach using art forms as a vehicle to create positive, long-lasting change in children and youth facing major life challenges, a sexual assault response team (SART) Advocate, and behavior and job coaching for individuals with disabilities. Please support my new project to help restore the lives of many who are affected by our economy and those who deserve the same meaningful life.
