The Issue

To: United States Postal Service, Office of Inspector General, Local Representatives, and Community Leaders

We, the concerned residents of Brooklyn, NY, specifically those serviced by the Parkville Post Office, are calling for an immediate investigation and corrective action regarding ongoing misconduct, mail tampering, and unprofessional behavior by certain employees at this facility.

Our complaints are serious and ongoing:
Mail is being routinely misdelivered — often to the wrong addresses, including different zip codes.

  • Mail is being returned to sender without cause — including critical documents such as wedding invitations and health insurance correspondence.
  • Bank statements have not been delivered in over four months.
  • A family’s health insurance was canceled because important documents were returned undelivered.
  • Rude and dismissive behavior by mail carriers — including one who, when approached respectfully, refused to engage and told us to “talk to the manager.”

Despite numerous complaints to the local post office manager and to the USPS national hotline (1-800-ASK-USPS), the problems persist and appear to be escalating. We now fear our complaints are being met with retaliation, and that our mail is being deliberately sabotaged.

This is not just poor service — this is a violation of federal law. Mail tampering and intentional mishandling are criminal offenses under U.S. law.

We are demanding the following:
1. An immediate and independent investigation into the Parkville Post Office operations.

2. Accountability and disciplinary action for any staff found to be engaging in misconduct or mail tampering.

3. A public response from USPS officials addressing our concerns.

4. Training and oversight measures to ensure respectful, professional, and accurate mail delivery in our neighborhood.

Our community relies on the postal service for essential communication, financial documents, health information, and personal correspondence. We will not stand by while our trust in this fundamental service is eroded.

We ask for your signatures in support of this petition. Together, we can demand the accountability and service every resident deserves.
