No more dog breeding by this women

The issue

Puppy farms pose serious welfare implications for dogs, and the council needs to carefully consider the animal welfare of the dogs that are housed here. Large-scale breeding facilities, such as this, fail to meet dogs’ behavioural, social and/or physiological needs. Dogs are kept in open pens, with little shade or shelter, in all weather conditions, with little exercise or enrichment, and are forced to have litter after litter.

We have strong concerns in regard to both the pups and the breeding dogs being used. Without detailed policies and procedures that detail how the breeding dogs will be cared for once they have had the maximum number of litters, we have no confidence that animal welfare is a priority or that even minimal animal welfare expectations will be met.

There is no justification for new puppy breeding facilities, especially at this scale. This puppy farm would potentially result in hundreds of puppies every year - each and every one of these puppies need a home and to be cared for for the rest of their life (up to 15 years). Meanwhile, there is a huge oversupply of dogs with thousands killed every year after being surrendered to shelters/pounds.

There is growing community concern around animal welfare and we are seeing a shift to increased animal welfare protections in law as well as a continual shift in community expectations. In 2021, the Western Australian government passed the McGowan government’s Dog Amendment (Stop Puppy Farming) Bill 2021 with overwhelming public support. This new legislation means that the breeding and selling of dogs is highly regulated in the state. The Victorian government also passed the Domestic Animals Amendment (Puppy Farms and Pet Shops) Act 2017 in December 2017 which would prohibit a development such as this one in that state.

Last year, after receiving around thousands of objections from the public, the Sunshine Coast Council voted to reject an application for Diamond Valley Kennels to build a similar-sized puppy farm at Landsborough. The Councillors raised concerns over the welfare of the dogs, and the scale of the operation, noting the Council’s commitment to encouraging the public to ‘adopt don’t shop’.

And in August this year, the Bundaberg Regional Council voted to reject an application for the Kanche Kennels Puppy Farm at Wallaville, after receiving thousands of community objections, and citing noise pollution.

Currently, Queensland dog breeding legislation is extremely weak however this will inevitably change as the general public becomes more educated and pressure is put on the state government to implement adequate regulations. We anticipate that in the years to come, more and more people will reject puppy-farming operations, in favour of adopting rescue companions, and developments such as this will obsolete.

Further more macallon kennels Is an illegal puppy farm and are running by cash sales and no form of breeder number the owner has been breeding them for a long time under the radar and now must be stopped before the animals succumb from the owners cruel trade. Macallon kennels runs out of gympie curra area qld and has been selling all over the country side. Please sign the petition so it can be put towards council and the rspca.

All your support will help put an end to this illegal puppy farm thank you in advance Sarah.
