HANOVER COUNTY RESIDENTS PROVED IT: SHOWING UP WORKS!
Last Wednesday night, Hanover residents made history.
The Board of Supervisors DENIED the Route 33 / Mountain Road Data Center Project by a 4–3 vote. This happened because residents showed up. They filled the room. They spoke. They made it impossible for the Board to pretend the community was not paying attention.
The Board listened. Go to the video here. https://www.12onyourside.com/2026/05/28/hanover-county-officials-vote-down-controversial-data-center-proposal/
Supervisor Faye Prichard’s reason for voting no said it all. She said that when this many citizens come forward against a project, it cannot be ignored. Her words should remind every Hanover resident that our presence matters: elected officials work for the people.
We will use that lesson to OPPOSE the proposed Luck Stone quarry.
A quarry is not a temporary inconvenience. It is a massive, long-term industrial operation that affect rural roads, homes, wells, the Little River area, historic and cemetery resources, noise, blasting, dust, traffic, and the character of Hanover County for generations. And it does not just threaten our quality of life — it threatens family wealth. Homeowners could see their property values drop by as much as 20%, stripping equity from families who never agreed to sacrifice their homes for an industrial quarry.
The data center vote proved one thing clearly:
BUTTS IN SEATS MATTER!!!
Signing this petition matters. Sharing information matters. Emailing the Board matters. But when the quarry comes before the Planning Commission and the Board of Supervisors, WE NEED THE ROOM FULL. We need residents there whether they speak or not. We need neighbors, families, farmers, parents, grandparents, and everyone who believes Hanover’s rural land should not be sacrificed to heavy industry.
The quarry Planning Commission meeting is tentatively expected in July and the Board meeting in August. We will post the confirmed date, time, and location here as soon as it is officially announced.
Please do three things today:
1. Share this petition again.
2. Ask 3 Hanover residents to sign it.
3. Commit to attending the Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors meetings when the quarry is heard.
Show up for Hanover. Show up for your family. Show up for the Little River. Show up before it is too late.
