Stop local government from regulating hours of sale of alcoholic beverages!

Stop local government from regulating hours of sale of alcoholic beverages!
The Issue
The City of Johnson City has introduced a resolution that would potentially reduce the permitted hours of sale of alcoholic beverages.
The claim is that it would allow municipalities to mitigate alcoholic-related incidents. However, this is a neglect of governmental obligations and a refusal to allocate appropriate resources to the downtown Johnson City area to combat these issues.
For years, the responsibility to maintain order in Downtown has fallen on the citizens and service workers employed by the small businesses that will be severely impacted by the result of this resolution. From TABC liquor license training to security conflict de-escalation training, our community of business owners, bartenders, bar backs and security teams have taken all required measures established by Tennessee law to keep our community safe.
At the very least, all of the employees of these businesses will be detrimentally impacted if this resolution is passed. Our state government has approved for the sale of alcohol to be until 3 am and we believe it should stay as so; for the betterment of the local economy and social development. Not to mention, the revenue produced for the local government.
If you frequent any of the late night establishments in Downtown Johnson City and believe these businesses should continue to operate under state law, please sign this petition!
We love our community and appreciate your support!
