The Issue

I'm a concerned parent whose primary school-aged children recently participated in what they described as an LGBTQ+ workshop. The school failed to inform any parents or guardians about this beforehand. There was no prior notification through email or letter, and no mention of this event in the curriculum. Moreover, the school has not shared any of the materials shown to and watched by our children.

As parents, we have always had the right to opt out of sex education lessons for our children. This ensures we can decide when and how our children learn about such sensitive topics. However, in this instance, we were completely bypassed. Whether you agree or disagree with the content being taught, the central issue here is the lack of transparency. Parents deserve a say when it comes to the education of sensitive subjects, especially when it involves young, impressionable minds.

Parents across the nation are fighting for transparency and involvement in their children's education. According to a survey conducted by the Parental Rights Foundation, 88% of parents want to be informed prior to any curriculum change that involves sensitive topics. This statistic underscores the widespread desire among parents for transparency and the right to make informed choices for our children's education.

We propose that schools in our community and beyond enact policies to ensure full transparency and communication with parents about workshops or lessons covering sensitive topics. Parental consent should be mandatory before such topics are introduced in the classroom. This simple measure will enable our schools to foster better relationships with families while respecting parental authority and the care we wish to provide our children.

Join us in advocating for this essential level of transparency and parental involvement in the education system. Support this petition and help us demand that schools keep parents informed and involved when it comes to teaching sensitive subjects. Sign the petition today to ensure that no parent is left in the dark regarding their children's education.
