The Issue

Our community is facing the devastating loss of the Post Office currently located within the Morrisons Daily store.

The 2-Mile Barrier:
Post Office criteria often suggest that services are "accessible" if another branch is within a 2-mile radius. However, in our town, this is an impractical and unfair measure. We are a rural community with infrequent and unreliable bus services; for many, a 2-mile journey without a car is an impossible hurdle, not a simple trip.

A Matter of Equality:
This closure disproportionately impacts the most vulnerable members of our town. With 28% of our local population living with a disability, removing the only accessible, walk-in postal service in the town centre isn't just a "convenience" issue—it is a significant barrier to independence.

For our elderly residents and those with limited mobility, this Morrisons Daily branch is the only place left to pay bills and handle essential transactions face-to-face. Without a direct, local replacement, our community will be left isolated.

We call on Post Office Ltd, Morrisons management, and our local council to recognize these local realities. We urge you to halt this closure or immediately secure a new local partner to keep these vital services within our town.

Please sign to protect our town and support our community!
