Stop LCRA and ONCOR and Harmful Energy Towers coming to Salado, TX

Stop LCRA and ONCOR and Harmful Energy Towers coming to Salado, TX
The Issue
WHAT DO YOU WANT YOUR SUNSET TO LOOK LIKE? TREES AND CLEAR SKIES, OR POWER TOWERS.
Living near a power tower is a possibility for Salado and it's critical for our community, Salado, TX to address the pressing issue. Living near a high voltage power tower can raise concerns about potential health risks, property value, and environmental impacts.
While there's no conclusive evidence of serious health issues the potential health risks, especially relating to childhood leukemia, cannot be ignored. WHY SHOULD WE TAKE A CHANCE.
Moreover, the looming presence of power towers does more than just worry families about health. It casts a shadow—both literally and figuratively—on our properties. (The high voltage tower will be 3 times bigger than the one already in Salado)The visual and noise pollution that emanate from these towering structures can severely dent our property values, making the day-to-day environment less bearable and ultimately reducing the desirability of our beloved village. Construction and maintenance of power lines can also disrupt ecosystems that many of us treasure.
The looming threat of more gigantic energy towers surrounding the western and northern spaces of Salado, TX, is a cause for alarm. Especially with the proposed route being less than 2000 ft from the new High School being built, and that will mean it will be approx. 2500 to 3000 ft from the current High School which will be remodeled into a second K-5 Elementary School and about the same distance for the Middle School.
The LCRA's and ONCORS Big Hill Transmission project route E1 proposal, a 765 KV (765KV is the highest voltage transmission line allowed in the US) transmission line and the East Bell County to Big Hill Project, is not in the best interest of central Texas. This proposal appears crafted to benefit mega corporations wanting to build data centers in West Texas, exploiting our lands while cloaked in the guise of serving oil and gas needs. The real beneficiaries are not the residents of Salado or Central Texas, but rather large corporations who view our communal spaces as conveniences for their business operations.
We must urge LCRA and ONCOR to reconsider their route and explore alternatives that do not compromise our local environment and community. There are numerous possibilities for redirecting these lines to areas where they would cause less environmental and social harm. Prioritizing underground cables in non-residential areas, enhancing energy efficiency, and considering renewable energy sources would benefit both corporations and citizens.
This is our opportunity to preserve the integrity, safety, and environmental balance of Salado. Our community should not be subjected to unnecessary risks for the benefit of external, commercial interests. Join us in voicing our concerns and protecting the natural and living environments we hold dear. Let us stand together to halt the advancement of these intrusive power towers in Salado by demanding that the LCRA and ONCOR stop the route E1 proposal now. Please sign this petition to safeguard our community and ensure the decisions made today do not endanger our futures.
