I am a resident of Toronto, ON, Canada who has been personally victimized by large running groups not once, but twice in the past year. These incidents were not isolated to me alone. There are numerous other pedestrians who have experienced similar situations - peaceful walks interrupted by large groups of runners that show little regard for others sharing the sidewalk.

Toronto is a city known for its respect and inclusivity, yet these actions contradict our values. According to Statistics Canada (2019), pedestrian injuries due to collisions have increased by 11% in urban areas like ours over the last decade. This trend is alarming and calls for immediate action.

We need regulations that limit the size of running groups on public sidewalks or designate specific lanes for them to ensure everyone's safety. We also urge local authorities to enforce penalties for those who disregard these rules.
