Good morning everyone!
Yesterday marked the end of the High Court hearings, and now we await the judges' decision. We hope to receive this later this month and will let you know as soon as we hear more.
I would like to take this opportunity to say THANK YOU for your tireless and enthusiastic support in this fight.
Thank you for supporting each other in your schools and communities across the country, and also in our Facebook group of parents (which I encourage you to join if you have not yet already!).
Parents are having to make difficult decisions, cutting back what they can to keep their children in their schools and with the community and friends they know, trust and love. Parents are also having to go further still, taking their child out of their schools and help them adjust to a new world, learning life lessons on ego and envy that they should not have to learn at this age.
Thank you to those of you who contributed to the crowdfunding campaign led by the Education Not Discrimination group of parents. *Every pound you gave made this fight possible.* We aren't done yet, and we may need your continued support in this area if this case has to go to appeal. Every pound matters.
Thank you also to those who stood with us at the Royal Courts of Justice this week, and thank you to all of you who shared your stories with the press. We know it isn't easy, but being there showed this issue matters. I had so many conversations with parents who showed the harms this policy is already causing, and the need to #FindaBetterWay. I spoke with journalists who were themselves getting up to speed on this issue, and seeing the complexity that Government talking points have missed.
Now we await the Court's Judgement, and then the Government's reaction. That will shape our next steps. Whichever way this goes, we still have work to do. This fight was years in the making, based on misperceptions and biases, and it will take time to rebuild the bridges this tax has damaged (and will yet damage). It will take time to support conversations among parents and school leaders to find a better way. Those conversations are already ongoing and we look forward to this phase of the journey.
We will keep you posted on any news as it develops and, again, we thank you for all of your support!
Tony
