Stop Kensington Intermediate Senior High School from Removing the Memorial Wall

The Issue

The pictures on the memorial wall at Kensington Intermediate Senior High  (KISH) are much more than mere decorations; they represent a heartfelt tradition of remembrance and honor. They capture the essence of our loved ones that once graced the halls of KISH, students who were tragically taken too soon, but left an indelible impact on us. They are our children, our friends, our angels.

Now, the Public Schools Branch wants to remove these priceless visuals, citing potential offensiveness or sensitivity. This decision, if implemented, would hurt families and friends who have lost a significant part of their lives. The memorial wall helps them remember their sons, their daughters, their friends. It aids them in cherishing the memories of those who were once part of the KISH family but are no longer with us in body, though they remain in our hearts.

Statistics show that tangible remembrances, such as memorial walls, play a crucial part in mourning and ultimately healing. The removal of such a vital part of our communal grieving process should not be taken lightly.

We urge the Public School Branch to reconsider their decision. In doing so, they will be acknowledging the deep significance these remembrances hold for grieving families, and respecting the memory of departed students who have been part of our lives and the school's fabric. Your signature will add strength to our plea. Stand with us in saying, "Our Angels Deserve to be Remembered". So, we appeal to your humaneness, and urge you to sign the petition.
