RECENTLY, A CONSECUTIVE STRONG/SUPER TYPHOONS WAS LANDED IN THE CERTAIN PARTS OF NORTHERN AND SOUTHERN LUZON. HOWEVER, THIS LEFT A VERY DEVASTATED AND A TRAGEDY TO EVERY FILIPINO OF LUZON. LOT OF STRUCTURES WERE DESTROYED AND THE MOST WORST, THE LIVELIHOOD OF THE PEOPLE AND MANY PEOPLE WERE LOST BECAUSE OF THIS DESTRUCTIVE TYPHOON. 

MANY PEOPLE EVACUATED AND RESCUED TO SECURE THEIR SAFETY. THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT UNITS PLAYS A BIG ROLE AFTER THEY PROVIDE THEM THEIR BASIC NEEDS SUCH AS CLOTHES , FOODS , AND SAFE WATER TO DRINK.

 

IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE NEW IMPLEMENTED DAM OR WHAT THEY CALLED  THE "KALIWA DAM" IS BEING UNDER CONSTRUCTED, THUS , THE MAKING OF THE DAM HAS TO AFFECT THE LIFE OF SIERRA MADRE AND MIGHT BE ABLE TO DESTROY IT SOONER OR LATER AS THEY BUILD THE KALIWA DAM. 

 

 

 

 

 

MANY PEOPLE ARE AGAINST WITH IT IN THEIR BELIEFS THAT THE SIERRA MADRE IS THE BIGGEST PROTECTION AMONG STRONG TYPHOONS AND STRONG WINDS. THE FACT THAT THE SIERRA MADRE WEAKENEDS THESE CALAMITIES, WE NEED TO PROTECT IT AT ALL COSTS.

 

WE MUST PROTECT OUR SIERRA MADRE FOR WHICH SHE IS THE FOUNDATION OF EVERY MOUNTAINS TO CONTINUE SAVING US AGAINST THESE DESTRUCTIVE TYPHOONS.

 

• At the heart of the Sierra Madre Mountain range in the Philippines lies a quaint village, where people live in bungalows made of wood and concrete along the banks of the pristine Agos River. However, this beautiful land may soon disappear due to the construction of the Kaliwa Dam, one of the projects of former President Rodrigo Duterte, funded by China. Here are some actions that can help to protect the Sierra Madre Mountain. Instead of solely relying on the dam, we need to explore alternative solutions, including
•   Raising awareness about the potential consequences that may arise once the Kaliwa dam is finished. We can also start:
• Repairing and improving existing dams. For example, the rehabilitation of Angat Dam in the Philippines significantly improved its water-holding capacity and extended its lifespan. This includes addressing leaks, improving dam operations, and implementing modern water management techniques. Extending their lifespan avoids the need for new dam construction, saving resources and minimizing environmental impact.
•  Strengthening water conservation policies. Promoting water-efficient practices, reducing water waste, and implementing stricter regulations on water usage are crucial for responsible water consumption. This involves promoting water-saving appliances, implementing water-efficient irrigation systems, and imposing penalties for excessive water usage.
• The importance of these actions lies in their ability to protect the Sierra Madre Mountains and its inhabitants from the detrimental effects of dam construction. By exploring alternative solutions, improving existing infrastructure, and implementing water conservation policies, we can ensure sustainable water management while minimizing environmental damage and protecting the unique ecosystem and communities of the region. With this approach, we prioritize responsible resource use over potentially destructive large-scale projects.

Protecting the Sierra Madre Mountains benefits the indigenous communities who call it home by preserving their livelihoods and cultural heritage.  The environment itself thrives with the preservation of biodiversity and vital ecosystem services.  Future generations inherit a healthier environment and reliable water resources.  Finally, the Philippines as a whole benefits from the continued provision of clean water, flood control, and climate regulation offered by this crucial ecosystem.
