The Issue

My son was literally kicked out from this program for calling me. Not only kicked him out but @7pm and 5 hours away from home. They kept all his belongings including letters and family pictures. They also took everything out of his wallet and kept it. He was left with no jacket given $20 and was told "good luck" I was unable to get him a ticket home until next morning so he sat in the cold in a bench outside of train station with no phone no money besides the $20. He went to court now is in custody for being kicked out of program for calling me.  The  Jericho Project advertises themselves as being a treatment center that cares about those who struggle with substance abuse. They advertise how the attendees will receive therapy, technical training, and so much more. The operation owns a ranch that the men can work on to learn new skills, they have community support that hires these men for different positions in numerous areas so they can learn to be a part of society and to work hard to not depend on a substance. It seems like a great place that everyone would be privileged to be accepted into, but that is far from the truth. The Jericho Project treats the men trying to overcome their addictions as slaves. They are not allowed to sing, hum, whistle, or just simply be themselves. They expect the men to tattle on one another at all times, they have rules that are simply inhumane for any adult to have to follow, and they truly do not care about the well being of the attendees. Yes, this place should have set rules and standards, but not to the extent that they currently have. They are not allowed to talk to family unless a committee agrees to it. The office workers have told families that their loved ones do not wish to speak to them ever again, which was not the case. Men are being thrown on the streets at night with $20 and being told good luck. They do not get their personal belongings they arrived with or anything they acquire during their stay. Many of these men are being thrown out for religious talk, being themselves and talking about their past, and "hear say" with no physical proof of any rule being broken. This is the worst place to send a loved one or yourself when you are truly in a time of need. We need to stop this project from treating these attendees like they are worthless. This place needs to be investigated!
