Stop inhumane evictions during rains! Guardian minister resign ASAP!

The Issue

The current circumstances in Ambujwadi have left us in dire straits. It is with a heavy heart and a deep sense of injustice that I pen down this petition, voicing our collective anguish and demanding swift action to address the atrocities we have endured.

As you are all aware, on the fateful day of 19th July 2023, our peaceful abodes were mercilessly demolished under the orders of Guardian Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha. This act of forced eviction, carried out illegally and in violation of existing laws, has rendered over 250 families homeless amidst the relentless torrential rains, leaving us with no shelter, belongings, or hope.

The Government Resolution explicitly states that houses cannot be demolished and residents cannot be evicted during the monsoon season, from 1st June to 30th September. The callous disregard for this rule, sanctioned by those in power, has resulted in an unprecedented humanitarian crisis in our community. The plight of our elderly, sick, and vulnerable citizens has worsened, with many falling ill due to exposure to the inclement weather and unhygienic conditions.

We demand the following actions as a matter of urgency:

Legal Rehabilitation and Survey Before Eviction: We demand that the authorities undertake a proper survey of the area, conducted transparently, with the active participation of community representatives and legal experts, before any further actions are taken. The rehabilitation process should be carried out in full compliance with the law, providing alternative housing to those affected, with facilities for education, healthcare, and livelihood.

Rightful Compensation: The loss of our homes, personal belongings, and the disruption to our lives are immeasurable. We demand fair and rightful compensation for all the affected families, taking into account not only the physical damages but also the emotional and psychological trauma caused by this reckless demolition.

Medical and Humanitarian Aid: Immediate medical assistance and humanitarian aid must be provided to those who have fallen sick or require support due to the distressing conditions we are currently enduring. Adequate healthcare facilities, food, clean water, and shelter must be made available to every resident in need.

Guardian Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha's Resignation: The wanton disregard for the welfare and rights of the citizens of Ambujwadi displayed by Guardian Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha calls for immediate accountability. We firmly demand his resignation from the esteemed position he holds, as his actions have proven to be inhumane, unconstitutional, and a betrayal of the trust bestowed upon him by the people.

We, the undersigned, come together as a united community, seeking justice and restoration of our basic human rights. Our peaceful protest is a testament to our resilience and determination to reclaim what is rightfully ours. We urge every citizen, both within Ambujwadi and beyond, to support our cause and stand in solidarity against such atrocities.

Please sign this petition and join us in raising our collective voice for a just and equitable resolution to this crisis. Let us not be silenced by oppression, for our unity is our strength, and together we shall prevail.
