Stop illegal parking that blocks our homes in parkwick
The Issue
I think about the feelings that arise when our families, who diligently pay their taxes, return home after a long day at work or after picking up our children from their school activities. It's disheartening to circle the neighborhood, only to find that there's nowhere to park in front of our own homes. Instead, we're forced to park far down the street and walk back, as well as our children, sometimes in the dark. It's unsettling, to say the least.
The problem stems from cars parking in our areas such as outside our homes and mailboxes in the Parkwick neighborhood, specifically those coming from the apartments at The Reserve at Parkwick on West Bay Street. Vehicles often remain illegally parked for days on end, mostly expired or no tags posing not only a nuisance but also a hazard. Our mail and deliveries are hindered, and it becomes a visual hazard when we're pulling out of our driveways, unable to see oncoming traffic, as well as all the trash they throw into our yards that we constantly have to clean up daily!
This situation has escalated since the west bay, apartments management has changed hands. some community members have even gone to the office to try to get some help with this. And they say that they will talk to their clients tenants, but nothing has changed. It has only gotten worse. To the extent that police have been called and cars have been towed. However, the issue persists, creating further frustration and danger for residents. We are appealing for immediate action to enforce parking regulations more stringently, ensuring that these illegally parked vehicles do not continue to disrupt our lives and peace of mind.
We urge the city authorities to take decisive action. Possible solutions include increasing patrols in the affected areas, implementing stricter penalties for violators, and improving signage around the community to clearly indicate restrictions for non-resident parking.
By addressing these problems, not only will you be safeguarding the residents' rights and safety, but also enhancing the quality of life within the neighborhood. Our streets should be safe havens for us all, not a source of anxiety and inconvenience.
Please show your support by signing this petition to help make our neighborhood safe and livable once again.
