The Issue

We, the residents of Centenary Quay, John Thornycroft Road, Southampton, are calling for immediate action to address the ongoing problem of dangerously loud and illegal motorcycle activity tearing through our streets – especially during the quiet hours of the night.
This isn’t just a nuisance. It’s mental torture, and it’s only getting worse.

Night after night, groups of motorcyclists with illegally modified exhausts roar through our residential area at high speeds, with no regard for the people who live here. It’s deeply affecting the wellbeing of our community. Children are waking up in fear, some even becoming paranoid and anxious. Vulnerable people, including the elderly and those with mental health conditions, are being pushed to the brink. The stress and sleep disruption are constant and unbearable.

The risk of serious accidents is also high. These bikes speed through residential roads 20 Speed limit zone– it’s only a matter of time before someone gets hurt

Despite multiple reports to Hampshire Police over the past year, there has been no real action. We’ve logged complaints. We’ve tried to do things the right way. But still, the noise, the fear, and the risk continue – and in fact, they’re escalating.

We demand a solution. Whether that’s regular police patrols, noise cameras, road-calming measures, or community safety intervention – we can’t go on like this.

Our community deserves peace. We deserve sleep. We deserve to feel safe in our own homes.

We’re urging Southampton City Council, Hampshire Constabulary, and our local representatives to act – now.

Enough is enough.
