The Issue

Right now, ICE is carrying out an unprecedented deportation operation across Florida — a “first-of-its-kind” crackdown that’s tearing families apart and terrorizing immigrant communities.

US Immigration and Customs Enforcement announced Saturday the agency and state law enforcement in Florida have arrested nearly 800 people over four days.

Many of the people targeted have lived peacefully in the U.S. for years — raising families, working hard, and contributing to their communities. But without warning, they are being ripped away from their loved ones, often without the chance to plead their case or seek legal protection.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis hailed the operation as “an example of FL and (the Department of Homeland Security) partnering to deliver big results on immigration enforcement and deportations.”

This operation is not about public safety. It’s about fear, cruelty, and injustice. No one should have to live in constant terror of being separated from their family simply because they crossed an invisible line years ago.

We call on ICE and the Department of Homeland Security to immediately halt this mass deportation effort and to commit to immigration policies that respect human dignity, family unity, and due process.

Families belong together. Communities belong together. We must demand better — before more lives are torn apart.
