The Trump administration is planning to turn a warehouse in Roxbury, New Jersey into a massive ICE detention center holding up to 1,500 people.

Local officials warn the facility is completely unfit for human detention. The site reportedly has just four toilets, and sits in the Highlands Region — a critical area that supplies drinking water to 70% of New Jersey residents.

New Jersey and the town of Roxbury have already filed a lawsuit, arguing the federal government failed to conduct required environmental reviews and ignored local concerns about water systems, infrastructure, and public safety.

Even local Republican leaders oppose the plan.

This isn’t just about immigration policy — it’s about putting a large-scale detention facility in a location that may not be safe, sustainable, or appropriate.
