Stop Housing Developments at the Old Marstons Mills Elementary School Grounds

The Issue

Please help us STOP the Town of Barnstable and Town Council from putting housing units of any kind at the old Marstons Mills Elementary School grounds on Main Street!

This is a tight-knit, safe, quiet, country style, patriotic and clean neighborhood that didn’t get that way by accident. It got that way by hard working people who have been keeping their properties looking great and welcoming. It got this way through deep efforts to grow long lasting relationships among the community members including neighborhood watch programs to alert each other of stranger danger.

The Town of Barnstable should be supporting the current residents and taxpayers within the Main Street area including the direct abutters of the Old Marstons Mills Elementary School and listening to our concerns about NOT adding housing to this quaint area.

We are the people who have been a positive contributing part of our small town which we are trying to continue to preserve and protect.  The Town of Barnstable should listen to the people who have clearly said no housing.

The Town should actually thank this community for the huge efforts that they have made to create a safe and beautiful space instead of punishing us by ignoring our no new housing request.

STOP wasting our money and stop all plans to bring in housing and use that land in ways that the residents have requested.  Give us a beautiful park and playground like the town of Osterville created when their residents opposed housing efforts. Give us paved walking trails for our elderly and disabled, dog park, gazebo, small sports field and lots of green space for community building activities like farmer’s market, car shows, small outdoor concerts and story hours for the kids. We do not want mixed use space of housing and a playground on the same land it’s a bad idea that is unappealing to parents.

Please understand the opposition of this project is huge in our community. It’s insulting and an abuse to our neighborhood to even consider a plan like housing in a beloved and special space directly in the heart of our village.
