There are many effects that homelessness causes for people. They are not only the ones that are effected, but also others and the environment around them. Being homeless allows you to experience mental distress or health issues. Pedestrians avoid areas that are populated with homeless people, having negative thoughts about them.

If this problem isn't solved or reduced, the homeless population will continue to grow and expand, damaging out community more and more. Since 2020, the homeless population has increased by 6% for California, but only 0.4% for the rest of the US.

Over many years, homelessness has increased and decreased. Around the 1980's, there was a large increase in homelessness, due to two main reasons, the recent release of many mentally ill individual, and the state of the economy, both greatly affecting the homeless population.

It is time to act now. The homeless have already taken up a large portion of California's population, and it will continue to grow. We can helps stop this issue, as it is of great importance not only to us, but the economy, and the environment.
