Petition to Oppose the HMO Development at 7 Poulter Road

We, the undersigned residents and supporters of the local community, strongly object to the continued progression of the proposed HMO development at 7 Poulter Road and call on the Council to refuse any applications and halt further development until all concerns have been fully addressed.

Reasons for Objection

Loss of family housing

The conversion of 7 Poulter Road into an HMO would remove another family home from the local housing market at a time when affordable housing is already in short supply. Family homes are vital to maintaining a balanced and sustainable community, and their loss makes it increasingly difficult for local families to remain in the area.

Impact on existing residents

Poulter Road is home to a number of elderly, disabled and vulnerable residents. Increased occupancy at the property is likely to place additional pressure on local infrastructure and parking availability, creating further difficulties for residents who rely on nearby access to their homes.

Parking concerns

Parking on Poulter Road is already heavily constrained. The proposed HMO has the potential to increase the number of vehicles associated with a single property, worsening an existing problem and adversely affecting residents, carers and visitors.

Building regulation concerns

Residents remain concerned that works already carried out at 7 Poulter Road have been identified as not meeting satisfactory building regulation standards. Before any further progression of the development is permitted, residents seek reassurance that all works have been fully inspected, approved and comply with all relevant safety and building requirements.

Impact on community character

The development risks changing the character of a long-established residential street made up predominantly of family homes. Residents wish to preserve the existing nature of the community and prevent further overdevelopment.

Our Request
We respectfully ask the Council to:

Refuse any planning permission relating to the HMO development at 7 Poulter Road.

Investigate all concerns relating to building regulation compliance.

Consider the impact on local residents, parking provision and community cohesion.

Take urgent steps towards implementing an Article 4 Direction to prevent further uncontrolled HMO conversions in the area.

We urge the Council to prioritise the needs of existing residents and protect the long-term future of Poulter Road as a family-oriented community.
