The ordinance is item 12c on the agenda.
This is the final public hearing for public comment on this ordinance to authorize the permanent closure of S.3rd Avenue to establish a “Pedestrian Mall” encompassing the first 150’ of South 3rd Avenue from Rt. 27, and may be the last opportunity for you to speak up and express your objections.
At the last meeting there were about 7 callers, and all except one expressed their opposition to the street closure. The Mayor and Council however, appear to be undeterred, so now is the time to speak up.
Another issue that came up is the change in format of public access to the Borough meetings. The Mayor previously announced that meetings will resume being held in person, and planned to stop remote access starting with the November 2022 meetings. This will limit public participation. However, a number of callers asked for a hybrid meeting to allow both in-person and remote access. The Mayor said she would consult with Council President Phil George and make a decision.
The Highland Park Board of Education does hold hybrid meetings, which allows as much public access as possible.

So there should be no reason why the Mayor and Council cannot do the same. So please call in and voice your support for hybrid meetings as the rule for all Highland Park Borough public meetings.
