Please join this petition to all 3 levels of government to force HEAVY VEHICLE  “through traffic” to use the North Connex motorway. This law is currently in place for Pennant Hills Road.

Why is this so important?

The Pacific Highway between the M1 motorway at Wahroonga and the Ryde Road interchange at Pymble is totally unsuitable for heavy vehicles travelling to areas beyond, due to: -
• Narrow lanes 
• Twisting and tight curves (heavy vehicles cannot stay within their lane boundaries)
• Steep hills (dangerous for hard braking)
• 14 sets of traffic lights (regular stopping)
• 4 schools (2 are primary schools) on this stretch of the Pacific Highway (significant noise and pollution to children)

We need this change for the safety and health of local residents and the cars passing through the area.

The impact on heavy vehicles is negligible:-  
• There is an excellent alternative route through North Connex, suited for heavy vehicles.
• Tolls - heavy vehicles should not be able to “rat run” to avoid the toll 
• The alternative route to Ryde Rd, Pymble via North Connex/ M2/ Ryde Road is longer but all of these roads are suitable for heavy vehicles. Travel time (off-peak), as per Maps, is just 6 minutes longer via North Connex.

Let’s make this change before there is a major accident involving a heavy vehicle along this stretch of the Pacific Highway.
