Coach Brandon was recently suspended for the entire rest of the Varsity Basketball season at Hazelwood Central High School, where’s he’s served as the head Basketball coach for several years. Coach Brandon is one of the only educators left (80% of the staff are new) at Hazelwood Central who actually cares about the kids. He goes above and beyond to ensure the students have what they need and are giving 100% of themselves. 

Coach Brandon was suspended a few days ago following a game where one of the refs alleged he was displaying unsportsmanlike conduct following a discussion he was having with some refs about a call, which is not uncommon.

The next day, Coach Brandon was called in to the office to meet with administration (Principal and Assistant Superintendent) to apparently discuss the matter. The meeting did not take place as administrators did not show up and advised him to go to HR where he told he was suspended, not for just one game but for the entire season (14 games). 

Per high school sports By- Laws, Coach Brandon should have been advised by email both of what he was being called to the office for; and of what he was being sent to HR for. This way, if he is an HNEA member (or not) he could meet whomever WITH representation. 

Additionally per By-Laws, One incident should not get someone suspended for the rest of the season. 

Let’s band together to get coach Brandon back on the court and helping these young men succeed. They deserve having educators in their lives who truly care and are in their corners advocating for them.
