Stop Hartford's Overdevelopment of Norwalk
The Issue
The Governor has gone on record stating he wants to double the size of Connecticut’s cities. To date, Norwalk’s city officials are helping Hartford accomplish this goal.
Norwalk’s greatest assets are its neighborhoods, yet we have become the most densely populated city in Western Connecticut (more than Stamford and Danbury) with no sign of stopping.
From crumbling infrastructure to increased traffic to pumping pollutants and raw sewage into the Norwalk Harbor, our elected leaders acceptance of Hartford’s agenda-- has resulted in little consideration to true affordability, environmental impacts, safe streets and sidewalks, public school excellence and enhancing quality of life for all who live here.
Norwalk’s land use bodies are drafting new zoning regulations and as Norwalk continues to lead the way in taxpayer funded giveaways for Developers—including tax abatements and other freebies-- residents can expect more traffic congestion, greater strains on our waste management treatment infrastructure and increased pressure on our overcrowded and underfunded schools.
Until Norwalk political officials tell Hartford that Norwalk comes first—that they are committed to Norwalk's infrastructure, Norwalk's schools and Norwalk's quality of life--there must be a moratorium on high density residential development.
Please sign this petition and send a message to our leaders and Hartford that Norwalk can’t take it anymore.
