Stop harassing parents on mandated purchase of unnecessary books and stationary.
Stop harassing parents on mandated purchase of unnecessary books and stationary.
The Issue
Dear Meru International School,
Administration,
We the undersigned parents of students of Meru International School are writing to formally express our concerns regarding the mandatory purchase of Text Books, notebooks, dictionary,Atlas and stationary as a complete set for each academic year. Also please stop the usage of STEM kits.
Our Concerns:
1. Financial Burden: The requirement to purchase additional books and stationery, many of which are rarely used during the school year, places an unnecessary financial strain on families. Several parents have observed that some of the prescribed materials are either supplementary or repetitive, making their purchase redundant.
2. Limited Usage: In previous years, notebooks and stationery items were hardly utilized, leaving them unused, which could be used for next year. This raises questions about the necessity and practicality of these items being included in the compulsory list.
3. Environmental Impact: The purchase of excessive books and stationery also contributes to waste. Unused or partially used materials often go to waste, which is neither environmentally sustainable nor practical.STEM kits are an absolute nuisance , creating another plastic waste. This could be taught in school with demonstration and hands on experiments with readily available materials.
4. Lack of Flexibility: Some parents already own similar or reusable stationery items, yet are still required to buy the entire school-specified kit, adding to the redundancy and expense.
We respectfully request the school to offer flexibility and transparency to the parents.
Schools must be a source of education, rather than a business house using every possible means to extract profits on the virtue of parents.
Practice what you preach in your M-Clap sessions!!
We kindly urge you to review the petition and collaboratively come to a solution which is mutually beneficial.
Thank you,
Warm Regards,
Parents of Meru International School
