Save the "Cactus". Stop "Grow Your Own" (aka Perth Cactus) from being moved.

The issue

News today indicates that Perth Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas would like to move the "Grow Your Own" public artwork (affectionately known by locals as the "Cactus") from Forrest Place to make way for a redevelopment.

The "Cactus" was designed by local artist James Angus. It was installed in 2011 at a cost of $1M. It is in a high-profile position located opposite the Perth train station. It was divisive at first but locals have come to love it.

This is an important public landmark and meeting spot and is well-loved by many. When meeting people in the City, it's common for people to say "Meet you at the Cactus" and have everyone know where you mean.

While Forrest Place could do with some redevelopment, we feel that this important public artwork needs to stay.

Please sign this petition to let Basil Zempilas know that the public doesn't want their beloved artwork moved before the City of Perth makes plans.
