🛑 Signing the petition was only the beginning—now it’s time to take action!
WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT. MAKE YOUR VOICES HEARD! 📞!!!CALL CALL CALL!!! 📞
Please fully read update for details about the event.
On February 18th we will launch and ALL DAY call in event to the state Capitol. We will hold politicians accountable and demand answers on 27A, threats of state funding cuts to Winneshiek county and the investigation into Dan Marx.
🚨 Iowa Code 27A has never been enforced—until now. For the first time in history, the state is threatening to cut funding to an entire county over a sheriff’s public stance on constitutional rights.
Winneshiek County Sheriff Dan Marx has taken a stand, refusing to act beyond what is lawful and constitutional—and now, he is under state investigation.
The legislators responsible for 27A’s enforcement—Steven Holt, Michael Bergan, and Mike Klimesh—have refused to answer for their actions. They are ignoring emails, dodging calls, and refusing to explain why only Winneshiek County is being targeted.

Subject: Urgent: Request for Answers on Iowa Code 27A & Records Preservation
Dear [Legislator’s Name],
I am writing as a concerned Iowa resident regarding the enforcement of Iowa Code 27A and the state’s ongoing investigation into Sheriff Dan Marx and Winneshiek County. Given your role in this matter, I am requesting clear answers on the following:
Why is Winneshiek County the first county being threatened with funding cuts under 27A, while other counties have taken the same stance without penalty?
What communication took place between your office, the Governor’s Office, and the Attorney General’s Office leading up to this investigation?
Do you support cutting funding to an entire county over this issue, and if so, what specific funding streams will be affected?
Will all Iowa counties be investigated for compliance, or is this selective enforcement?
Additionally, this email serves as a formal request for the preservation of all communications, documents, and internal discussions related to 27A enforcement and the investigation into Sheriff Marx. This includes emails, text messages, meeting notes, and legislative memos. Under Iowa law, these records must be preserved.
I request a written response addressing these questions. Additionally, I request a follow-up phone call to discuss these matters further. Please confirm receipt of this email and provide a timeframe for your response.
Sincerely,
[Your Name]

📢 FINAL MESSAGE TO PETITION SIGNERS
🔹 Every call matters. Every email matters. The state is setting a precedent that local officials can be punished for following constitutional law. If we say nothing, they will assume we approve.
🛑 Tuesday, February 18th is the moment of action.
📢 Spread the word. Forward this email. Share it with fellow Iowans. Encourage friends and family to call. Our voices together are stronger than any one of us alone.
🚨 If we stay silent, they win. If we act together, they have nowhere to hide.
📞 Make the call. Send the email. Demand answers.
Tuesday, February 18, is not just a call to action—it’s a test of whether our elected officials will stand for the people or silence them.
They work for us. It’s time to remind them.
