Where Are Bergan & Klimesh When Winneshiek County Needs Them Most?

🚨 Call Now & Request Answers 🚨
📞 Rep. Michael Bergan: (515) 281-3221
📞 Sen. Mike Klimesh: (515) 281-3371

Winneshiek County is facing uncertain and undefined funding cuts, not due to mismanagement, but because its elected sheriff made a decision based on constitutional principles and law enforcement discretion. Rather than providing clarity, state officials have issued financial threats, leaving local residents uncertain about potential impacts to county services.

Rep. Michael Bergan and Sen. Mike Klimesh have yet to address this situation publicly. At a time when the county needs clear leadership and advocacy, their constituents deserve to know where they stand. Many of the same voters who supported Bergan and Klimesh also elected Sheriff Dan Marx, trusting all three to uphold their responsibilities and protect the best interests of the county.

This Is About Leadership and Local Control
This is not about partisan politics—this is about the ability of local governments to make decisions without fear of financial punishment from the state. If funding can be stripped from Winneshiek County today, what prevents other counties from facing the same treatment in the future?

The people of Winneshiek County deserve clear answers:

Do Bergan and Klimesh support the state’s ability to withhold county funding over a local law enforcement decision?

Do they believe Iowa Code 27A is being enforced fairly, or selectively?

Will they stand up for local government, or allow financial penalties to be used as leverage?

This is a moment for leadership, not silence. Their constituents deserve transparency, and ignoring the issue is not an option.
