Stop Glenwood Apartments from "Relocating" Community Cats

The Issue

Last September, I found a kitten dumped in a parking lot down the street from Glenwood Apartments. He was terrified, starving, severely underweight, and would have been run over by cars had I not intervened. Over the years, I've seen quite a few cats hit on the side of Route 516 in Old Bridge. It's absolutely heartbreaking and there's not enough being done to help.

Now, Glenwood Apartments is in the process of "relocating" community cats - an action that typically leads to being killed or euthanized. These are animals simply trying to live their lives without causing any disturbance to residents. One of these cats has been extremely sick and instead of working with local animal rescues and residents who have offered assistance, they have emailed all the residents claiming that "It is unsightly and unsanitary and causes all kinds of bugs, smells etc."

This approach lacks compassion and effectiveness. These cats struggle to find food and shelter, and denying them assistance can lead to further, unnecessary suffering. According to statistics from the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), community cats can live healthy lives outdoors when provided with regular meals and veterinary care - something local animal rescues are willing to help with.

Furthermore, the statement that feeding stray cats is "unsightly and unsanitary" is NOT accurate. With proper management and responsible feeding practices, it is possible to mitigate any potential issues related to illnesses, waste, or odors.

We believe that Glenwood Apartments should reconsider their stance on this issue and work with local animal rescue groups to TNR these cats instead of resorting to relocation or euthanasia. Not only will this control the population, but it will also ensure that they are healthy and vaccinated, benefiting the residents as well. Let's make Old Bridge a safe haven for these innocent cats rather than a place where they face constant danger.

Please sign this petition urging Glenwood Apartments management team in Old Bridge, NJ to stop relocating community cats immediately and allow local animal rescues to help.
