STOP Garden Waste Bin Charges, Huntingdonshire

STOP Garden Waste Bin Charges, Huntingdonshire
The Issue
This petition has been set up to hopefully retract the Huntingdonshire District Council from making the Garden Waste Disposal bins chargeable at £57.50 for the first bin and £30.00 for any additional garden waste bins. As per the proposal that has been put forward.
What impact will this have?
Financial
With the cost of living continually increasing many are struggling financially. This will put an added financial strain to many which in turn will cause an increase in financial stress, anxiety and depression.
Increased Fly-Tipping
If the bins are made chargeable, many will opt out of having these bins. This will lead to an increase of the garden waste being produced, being fly-tipped throughout our District. This is already costly to The Huntingdonshire District Council in form of arranging collection, disposal, investigation and prosecution. The effects of fly-tipping have a huge detriment to our environment in cases contaminating land and/or harming wildlife.
Increase Greenhouse Gasses
We have been encouraged to dispose of food waste via our garden waste bins, dramatically reducing the amount sent to landfill which is a large contributor to the greenhouse gasses being emitted. This will cause those individuals to put their food waste into their general waste bin, increasing the volume that is sent to landfill, directly opposing the plans and actions to reach net zero.
The above are just a sample of reasons why charging residents for the use if garden waste bins, will have a negative effect in our local environment and the wellbeing of those within. I therefore ask that you support this in form of your signature on the petition to demonstrate to The Huntingdonshire District Council, you opposition to this proposal.
Thank you for your support...
