In Perez Street Partida Pulong Buhangin, Sta Maria, Bulacan, our community is facing a pressing environmental and health crisis. The burning of garbage, operated by Mr. Ruben Mercado, owner of Multivite Feeds from Turo Bocaue, Bulacan, takes place at an illegal landfill here and has been wreaking havoc on our lives, as well as on our environment.

Garbage burning, besides being illegal, releases toxic pollutants into the air we breathe. Residents, including myself, have been suffering from respiratory illnesses exacerbated by the dense smoke and foul odor that envelopes our neighborhood. This is not just an environmental offense but a public health emergency that affects everyone, especially the most vulnerable among us - the young, the elderly, and those with pre-existing health conditions.

What's even more troubling is the complete inaction from our local government. Despite numerous complaints and evident violations, there has not been any effective response or intervention to halt these harmful activities. This apathy contributes to the deterioration of both our community health and our local environment.

We are calling for immediate action to be taken against the illegal burning activities. The local government must enforce existing environmental laws and hold accountable those responsible for these violations. Implementing regular monitoring, providing waste management solutions, and raising community awareness can help address such issues effectively.
