Stop Games Workshop from sending Beasts of Chaos to Legends

The Issue

As a long-time fan of Age of Sigmar, Warhammer 40k, and wargaming in general, there is a certain truth we have to understand:

Nothing lasts forever.

Paint jobs fade, even on the most beautiful of miniatures. Plastic and super glue become brittle, no matter how gently we play with our beloved miniatures. Even the fantastical worlds we love, despite how close we keep them to our hearts, cannot remain intact externally in perpetuity.

There is a beginning and an end to all things. A time to sow, and a time to harvest. A time to say hello and a time to say goodbye.

Yesterday, on April 4, Games Workshop (GW), a company that produces miniatures, paints and rule systems, announced that they would be removing several dozen miniatures from a variety of its lines: Most notably, the Beasts of Chaos and Bonesplittaz faction lines of miniatures, as well as more than half the entire catalog of its Stormcast Eternals line of miniatures. Furthermore, while courteous, GW announced they intended to remove the factions and units rules entirely from its matched play game format after a year and introduce them into its Legends format.

While I do not have any issues with this, as I think that it is a good gesture on the company's behalf still to provide any rules for the models, I  know more than a dozen individuals who are upset about losing the ability to play with the models they love in the format they prefer.

I am creating this petition because I believe that these miniatures still ought to be included in matched play games beyond that year. I am also making this because I recognize how upset this has made some members of the general Age of Sigmar player community. The goals of this petition are as follows in this order:

  1. Ensure that Beasts of Chaos, Bonesplittaz and Stormcast Eternal miniatures remain on sale
  2. Ensure that Beasts of Chaos and Bonesplittaz remain as viable selections for matched play.
  3. Allow Stormcast players, who have been dedicated fans of the game system for roughly a decade, to continue to use their miniatures in the game.

Now, I would like to preface this: I do not think it's reasonable or necessary for GW to print out entirely new tomes for the two affected factions, nor continue to include the old Stormcast Eternal models in the newest Stormcast Eternals Battletome. I would consider this petition an overwhelming success if GW were to even allow them to play their factions until the end of 4th Edition's life cycle as a game.

All things must come to an end. But to quote a famous poet: Do not go silently into that good night.

For those who share these feelings and wish for a similar outcome, I implore you to sign and share this petition across any pages you see fit. If older players of WHFB can help bring about an Old World, surely, we can at least try and keep these beloved factions kicking around a little bit longer.
