The Issue

My name is Muhammad Waseem Mujtaba. I am a senior citizen from Pakistan and the father of a talented young digital artist, Syed Muhammad Zohaib Mujtaba.

In good faith and under a signed Independent Contractor Agreement, my son completed over 170 hours of remote creative work for a Canadian startup called IMU Studios, led by CEO Robert Strutin (British Columbia).

The agreed rate was $35/hour, totaling $5,950 USD. The work was acknowledged — but no payment has been made to date.

What’s worse, the CEO issued a written threat invoking “Clause 25” of their contract, stating that even completed and approved work could be "revoked and nullified" if we made any complaint — even privately. This is coercion, plain and simple.

This is not just a case of unpaid work — it's about fear, silence, and exploitation of international freelancers who have no legal safety net.

Our family took loans to support Zohaib’s computer equipment. His sister’s education has been disrupted. Medical treatments delayed. And all because of a contract that silences truth.

We are not seeking revenge. We seek justice. And we want to prevent this from happening to others.

**We request:**
1. A formal investigation by Canadian authorities into IMU Studios’ actions
2. Accountability for exploitative contract clauses like Clause 25
3. Immediate payment to Zohaib for his completed work
4. Protection for international freelancers working under Canadian companies
5. A voice for those who are made to feel helpless

Please sign and share this petition. Every voice helps us push back against digital injustice.

**Justice delayed is dignity denied.**

Sincerely,
Muhammad Waseem Mujtaba
