The Issue

I am an Indian, and every corner of India lives in me. This land's lush forests and diverse ecosystem are not just a part of our environment, but a part of my soul. I have taken it upon myself to care for the trees around me, nurturing them so they can stand strong and continue to provide us with vital resources, clean air, and unmatched beauty.

Yet, these forests are being devastated by relentless cutting. Thousands of hectares of India's forests are vanishing each year due to logging and industrial expansion. In fact, according to the India State of Forest Report, between 2015 and 2019, there has been a decline in the overall forest cover which should deeply alarm us all. These forests are home to countless species of flora and fauna, with many of them being endemic to our region and at the brink of extinction.

I urge the government to implement stringent regulations to halt deforestation immediately. We need to protect what remains and repair what has been damaged. Furthermore, it is crucial for the government to invest in new forest development programs. Reforestation initiatives such as the Green India Mission are steps in the right direction, but they need to be scaled up significantly.

Encourage community involvement in afforestation activities and educate citizens about sustainable practices that can prevent further harm to our environment. Support for satellite monitoring systems to keep track of illegal logging activities can also deter unlawful actions.

Our forests are not just a part of our national heritage — they are vital for the survival and well-being of future generations. They are the lungs of our communities, cleansing our air and providing us with medicinal resources.

Please join me in urging our government to take swift and decisive action to stop forest cutting and actively promote new forest development. Sign this petition to raise your voice for preserving India's precious green legacy.
