At the beginning of the 2026 - 2027 school year, many Garfield students were placed into JROTC without their consent which is something our administrators promised would not happen. We have nothing negative to say about the JROTC program, but we do not think students should be forced to take that class. It is not a graduation requirement, some students are not interested, and we were promised this would be our choice. By signing this petition you are letting the administrators of Garfield High School and the wider Garfield community know that they need to provide other options for students who wish to opt out of the JROTC program.
