The Issue
Somehow Delmarva power has found a new, unethical way to screw over their community. Today, I found out that my autistic brother, Patrick, got laid off from Delmarva power because his job is going to be automated going forward.
Exelon had a contract with The Precisionists (TPI) which is a company that helps train and place neurodivergent adults in different jobs across the nation. My brother worked with Exelon for four years processing and sorting emails. He had near perfect attendance and a stellar work history. This job gave him the confidence and skills that he never had prior. He’s extremely shaken up by all of this, he loved his job and working with people he can relate to.
As if the rate increase and delivery charges aren’t egregious enough, Delmarva wants to help their bottom line even more by laying off autistic adults and using AI instead. It saddens me to think how this will affect the confidence of these neurodivergent individuals.
Please join me in holding Delmarva power and Exelon accountable and consider signing this petition. I would like to see Delmarva reconsider their decision with the layoffs and reinstate the jobs of everyone they have already laid off. If this doesn’t happen, then our bills should decrease since they are paying less salaries! At the very least, I want to raise awareness about Delmarva Power/Exelon’s predatory practices and complete disregard for their community and employees. Enough is enough.
