As an Iranian, I believe that no political, religious, or ideological difference can ever justify taking a human life. I created this petition because every person deserves the right to live, and no family should have to live in fear of losing a loved one to execution.

By signing this petition, you are standing with the people of Iran and joining a global call to end executions. Together, we can help protect lives, support families living in fear, and affirm a simple but universal principle: every human life has equal value.

I say this to everyone who, knowingly or unknowingly, places loyalty to an ideology, political faction, or partisan cause above the value of human life. Too often, we fall into the trap of believing that “the enemy of my enemy is my friend.” But no political rivalry or ideology should prevent us from recognizing human suffering.

It is possible to oppose war. It is possible to criticize the policies of the United States or Israel. At the same time, we must not turn a blind eye to executions and systematic human rights violations committed by the Islamic Republic of Iran, nor stop opposing its authoritarian religious rule. Saving human lives must always take precedence over every ideology and every political interest.

Every execution is more than the end of a life—it destroys a future. It leaves families devastated and forever deprives young people of love, hope, the chance to build a family, and the opportunity to live the life they dreamed of.

According to documented reports by international human rights organizations, at least 1,639 people were executed in Iran during 2025 alone. Many of these death sentences followed deeply unfair judicial proceedings, with limited access to legal counsel and serious allegations of torture and forced confessions.

People from different backgrounds, professions, beliefs, and ages continue to face execution in Iran. Among them are young Iranians who have been sentenced to death after protesting corruption, economic hardship, and restrictions on their fundamental freedoms. Even in cases such as Isfahan, where people gathered and courageously protested to stop executions, the authorities continued to carry out death sentences. Regardless of who they are or what they are accused of, every human being has the right to life, dignity, and a fair trial.

When power is monopolized by a single ideology and a single voice, dissent is no longer treated as a right—it becomes a crime. This is where authoritarianism begins: when a government chooses prisons, torture, and executions instead of listening to its people. No ideology, no political system, and no government should ever be considered so sacred that it can sacrifice human lives to preserve itself.

Execution is state-sanctioned killing.

For more than a century—from the Constitutional Revolution to the present day—the people of Iran have struggled for freedom, justice, and the rule of law. Generation after generation has endured imprisonment, repression, exile, and death, yet the hope of building a free and humane Iran has never disappeared.

This petition is not an invitation to share the same political views. It is an invitation to share the same humanity. We may disagree about politics, but we should never disagree on one fundamental principle: no government should have the power to take a human life.

Today, I ask you to stand with the people of Iran—with its women, its youth, and the families who have lost their loved ones. If this petition helps save even one life, it will have been worthwhile.

به‌عنوان یک ایرانی، باور دارم که هیچ اختلاف سیاسی، مذهبی یا ایدئولوژیکی هرگز نمی‌تواند گرفتن جان یک انسان را توجیه کند. این دادخواست را ایجاد کرده‌ام، زیرا هر انسانی شایسته حق زندگی است و هیچ خانواده‌ای نباید در هراس از دست دادن عزیزش به دلیل اعدام زندگی کند.

با امضای این دادخواست، شما در کنار مردم ایران می‌ایستید و به ندای جهانی برای پایان دادن به اعدام‌ها می‌پیوندید. با هم می‌توانیم به حفظ جان انسان‌ها کمک کنیم، از خانواده‌هایی که در ترس زندگی می‌کنند حمایت کنیم و بر یک اصل ساده اما جهان‌شمول تأکید کنیم: ارزش جان همه انسان‌ها برابر است.

این سخن را خطاب به همه کسانی می‌گویم که، آگاهانه یا ناآگاهانه، وفاداری به یک ایدئولوژی، جناح سیاسی یا گرایش حزبی را بالاتر از ارزش جان انسان قرار می‌دهند. ما اغلب در دام این باور می‌افتیم که «دشمنِ دشمنِ من، دوستِ من است.» اما هیچ رقابت سیاسی یا باور ایدئولوژیکی نباید مانع از آن شود که رنج انسان‌ها را نادیده بگیریم.

می‌توان با جنگ مخالف بود. می‌توان از سیاست‌های ایالات متحده یا اسرائیل انتقاد کرد. اما در عین حال، نباید نسبت به اعدام‌ها و نقض نظام‌مند حقوق بشر که توسط جمهوری اسلامی ایران صورت می‌گیرد چشم‌پوشی کنیم و نباید از مخالفت با حاکمیت اقتدارگرای دینی آن دست بکشیم. نجات جان انسان‌ها باید همواره بر هر ایدئولوژی و هر منفعت سیاسی مقدم باشد.

هر اعدام، تنها پایان یک زندگی نیست؛ بلکه نابودی یک آینده است. اعدام خانواده‌ها را داغدار می‌کند و جوانان را برای همیشه از عشق، امید، فرصت تشکیل خانواده و امکان زندگی‌ای که در رؤیا داشتند محروم می‌سازد.

بر اساس گزارش‌های مستند سازمان‌های بین‌المللی حقوق بشر، تنها در سال ۲۰۲۵ دست‌کم ۱٬۶۳۹ نفر در ایران اعدام شده‌اند. بسیاری از این احکام پس از دادرسی‌هایی به‌شدت ناعادلانه صادر شده‌اند؛ دادرسی‌هایی که در آن متهمان از دسترسی محدود به وکیل برخوردار بوده‌اند و گزارش‌های جدی درباره شکنجه و اعترافات اجباری وجود دارد.

افرادی از پیشینه‌ها، مشاغل، باورها و گروه‌های سنی گوناگون همچنان در ایران با مجازات اعدام روبه‌رو هستند. در میان آنان، جوانان ایرانی نیز هستند که پس از اعتراض به فساد، مشکلات اقتصادی و محدودیت‌های اعمال‌شده بر آزادی‌های بنیادین خود، به اعدام محکوم شده‌اند. حتی در مواردی مانند اصفهان، که مردم با شجاعت برای توقف اعدام‌ها گرد هم آمدند و اعتراض کردند، مقامات همچنان به اجرای احکام اعدام ادامه دادند. صرف‌نظر از اینکه این افراد چه کسانی هستند یا به چه اتهاماتی متهم شده‌اند، هر انسانی از حق زندگی، کرامت انسانی و برخورداری از یک دادرسی عادلانه برخوردار است.

آن‌گاه که قدرت در انحصار یک ایدئولوژی و یک صدا قرار می‌گیرد، مخالفت دیگر یک حق تلقی نمی‌شود، بلکه به جرم تبدیل می‌شود. این همان نقطه‌ای است که اقتدارگرایی آغاز می‌شود: زمانی که یک حکومت به‌جای شنیدن صدای مردم، زندان، شکنجه و اعدام را برمی‌گزیند. هیچ ایدئولوژی، هیچ نظام سیاسی و هیچ حکومتی نباید آن‌قدر مقدس شمرده شود که برای حفظ خود، جان انسان‌ها را قربانی کند.

اعدام، کشتنِ انسان با مجوز حکومت است.

بیش از یک قرن است که مردم ایران، از انقلاب مشروطه تا امروز، برای آزادی، عدالت و حاکمیت قانون مبارزه کرده‌اند. نسل پس از نسل، زندان، سرکوب، تبعید و مرگ را تحمل کرده‌اند، اما امید به ساختن ایرانی آزاد، عادلانه و انسانی هرگز از میان نرفته است.

این دادخواست دعوتی برای هم‌نظر شدن در سیاست نیست؛ دعوتی است برای سهیم شدن در انسانیت مشترکمان. ممکن است درباره سیاست با یکدیگر اختلاف داشته باشیم، اما نباید بر سر یک اصل بنیادین اختلاف کنیم: هیچ حکومتی نباید حق گرفتن جان یک انسان را داشته باشد.

امروز از شما می‌خواهم در کنار مردم ایران بایستید؛ در کنار زنان، جوانان و خانواده‌هایی که عزیزان خود را از دست داده‌اند. اگر این دادخواست بتواند حتی جان یک انسان را نجات دهد، ارزشش را خواهد داشت.
