The Issue

I am deeply concerned about the potential £500,000 expenditure by the States of Guernsey on a by-election for a new States member, as reported by the press. This is an utter waste of taxpayer money, especially during times when these funds could be better allocated for essential services and community welfare.

In recent years, we've seen numerous instances where this money could have been utilised to improve our schools, healthcare system, and social services. Spending such an exorbitant amount on an election, which might not yield significant change, seems irresponsible and a disservice to the community.

Let's urge the States of Guernsey to reconsider this decision, demonstrate financial responsibility, and use taxpayer funds in a manner that genuinely benefits our island.

Please join me in signing this petition to hold our leaders accountable and stop this wasteful spending.
